Who We Are
A decade of building Nigeria’s emergency health response, from the ground up.
Health Emergency Initiative (HEI) is a Nigerian nonprofit working across hospitals, schools, communities, and government systems to make sure emergency care and life-saving skills reach the people who need them before it’s too late.
Our history
We didn’t set out to become a public health institution. We set
out to stop avoidable deaths. The institution is just what that
commitment grew into.
Founded in 2015
In 2015, HEI began with a single, urgent problem: people in Nigerian hospitals were dying from conditions that cost less than N20,000 to treat, not because care didn’t exist, but because they couldn’t afford the bill standing between them and it. We stepped up to pay those bills, and the fight against preventable death began.
How it’s grown.
A decade later, that fight has grown into something bigger. We’ve
paid emergency hospital bills for hundreds of indigent patients.
We’ve trained over 246,000 first responders across the country.
We’ve brought CPR and emergency response training into secondary schools across Lagos State.
We’ve fought childhood malnutrition,
raised awareness around sepsis and non-communicable diseases, and
built partnerships with government agencies, hospitals, and global
organizations that now trust us to deliver real, measurable impact.
OUR VISION
To be a trusted global partner and platform that provides health and emergency interventions to indigent and vulnerable people in society, driven by the Love of Jesus Christ.
OUR MISSION
To assist in the provision of emergency& life saving response in public health institutions and support other related initiatives for the good of humanity.
