The Gap we Bridge

Treatment is often possible.
Reaching it in time is not.

 Before help arrives

Nine in ten Nigerians have never been taught basic first aid. The closest person may not know what to do.

At the hospital

Everything can be ready, and a patient still waits, because treatment can’t begin without an initial deposit.

Between hospitals

Not every hospital can handle every emergency. HEI helps patients reach the right one in time.

After survival

Survival is only the first step. Without follow-up, people can return to the same conditions that put them at risk.

How we work

Bridging the gaps in the path to care.

Prepared communities

We equip people with first aid and emergency response skills so they can act in the critical minutes before professional care arrives.

Since 2015, HEI has stepped in so treatment could begin when payment stood in the way. A decade later, we work across the whole path from crisis to care.

…beyond emergency response!

MORE THAN A DECADE OF MOVING PEOPLE FROM CRISIS TO CARE

HEI began in 2015 at the hospital gate, stepping in so treatment could begin for patients who could not afford their bill when it was needed. A decade on, we work across the whole path from crisis to care, because that path can break at more than one point.

We still help indigent and vulnerable patients access urgent treatment, and we still support crash victims. We have also trained more than 147,500 first responders, brought CPR and emergency response training into Nigerian secondary schools, supported children through malnutrition recovery, and raised awareness around sepsis and non-communicable diseases, building alongside hospitals, government agencies, and global partners working toward the same standard of emergency care.
